Psychotherapy
Taking the first step to begin therapy is an act of great trust. I offer an accepting, warm, and honest therapeutic relationship, through which you may gain a sense of confidence, self-compassion, and growth that helps you feel more comfortable and capable in your life.
We will begin every session with an invitation for you to speak about whatever is on your mind at present. This style of mindful and exploratory therapy helps you to connect with yourself as you are in this moment. As we get to know each other, we will become aware of patterns in feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships as they show up in your life and even in the therapy room. Together, we will look at these dynamics with curiosity and compassion to help you gain a sense of choice in your life, as well as self-acceptance.
I help my clients become aware of the beliefs that underlie the patterns in their lives, so they can choose new paths that more closely match their values.
As we get to know each other, you may identify certain challenges that you hope to actively change or transform. At these times we can incorporate practices to help you develop a sense of capability in managing these challenges. In my practice, many clients have felt helped by mindfulness, self-compassion and meditation practices, which I bring into sessions for those who are interested in these approaches.
